Children and Youth

These ministries guide our children and youth to develop a personal relationship with Jesus Christ and to grow, share and model their Christian Faith.

Our mission is to guide children into a relationship with Christ through biblical teaching and values.

Our vision is to have our children to become spiritually empowered believers who are actively devoted to Christ in their home, school and community

What Our Ministry is all About:

We believe that our children are the legacy and heritage of our church.  As leaders we want to:

  • Prepare our children for the work of the kingdom through age appropriate messages and biblical activities.
  • Teach each child to love the Lord and recognize Him as savior.
  • Teach them to share the love of God with their families and friends.
  • Develop their spiritual gifts so they can become leaders in the church and community.

Social Justice & Outreach Ministries

Luke 4:18-19 ” The Spirit of the Lord is on me,  because he has anointed me to preach good news  to the poor.  He has sent me to proclaim freedom for the prisoners and recovery of sight for the blind, to release the oppressed, to proclaim the year of the Lord’s favor.”

Our Mission

In Luke Chapter 4:19-19 Jesus tells us that “The Spirit of the Lord is upon me, because he has anointed me to preach the gospel to the poor, he has sent me to heal the brokenhearted, to preach deliverance to the captives, and recovering of sight to the blind, to set at liberty them that are bruised, to peach the acceptable year of the Lord.

Jesus’ declaration in these two verses, are a powerful statement and testament to our responsibilities as a community of faith.  As purveyors of the gospel, we must be intentional about spreading the message that God is concerned about and cares about the various social injustices that men, women and children continually face.

We seek to carry out its mission in the following ways:

  • Provide and deliver services designed to enhance the lives of members of the community whose social economic status inhibits them from meeting their basic needs.  Develop relationships with local community based services (i.e., Shelter for H.O.P.E., Durham County Department of Social Services) in an effort to identify and meet the growing needs of at risk populations.
  • Become a referral source for individuals in the community in need of assistance.
  • Increase the level of volunteer support offered to the Durham Shelter for H.O.P.E.
  • Participate in advocacy programs designed to address the needs of poor and at-risk populations.
  • Offer support services to the families suffering from the impact of substance abuse.
